About Sorchik
Ever since I was a little rug rat, I loved to draw. In fact, I used to get "spoken to" by my Dad on a regular basis about working on art in my room rather than working on the farm with the rest of the family.
In my teens I realized I had a "thing" for old cars, they were funky and cool. Then I saw a magazine with hot rodded coupes, roadsters & sedans and I was hooked. How cool was it to take an old car that already looked neat but personalize it! It was like . . . ART!
So here I am some 40 years later drawing cars for clients all over the world as well as building a small collection of my own hot rods.
If you haven't noticed I love distortion. It adds character to the subject. Adding an organic quality to my lines gives life to an otherwise 'static' subject. I think the only negative side to this is that many times I prefer the look of my caricatures over the real car. So the next best thing is to try and build a car as close to my illustrations as possible; which I have managed to do starting with my first rod seen here.
I feel fortunate to be able to illustrate and build cars for a living!
